Shangyu series small soliflore
This porcelain vase is unique turned and carved by hand.
Height 13 cm base 5.5 cm
This is left raw to bring out the size work and because porcelain is a beautiful material with very pleasant contact.
This soliflore belongs to the Shangyu series, from the name of the city where I resided a month and a half last spring, at the invitation of master Bai Ming, the most famous of Chinese contemporary ceramists (more info on my blog !).
The first pieces of the series are exhibited at Shangyu!
During this residency, I was able to experience their shape, the particular size of the porcelain that I make with a sharp tool, and the particular shape of the foot!
Each piece is unique!
They can accommodate flowers, be placed alone or accompanied by other small vases!
It takes about 2 to 3 weeks to make a ceramic (turning, drying, 2 firing, enamelling). Each step requiring special attention.
I make all these pieces by hand in my workshop in Haute Provence (France), in porcelain or stoneware.
After drying and the first baking at 950 ° C, they are glazed and then baked again up to 1280 ° C.
They are all unique!
They do not have industrial perfection and may have very slight imperfections inherent in ceramics. Do not see them as faults but as proof of their unique and original character!
